History:

Due to extremely obscure fandom being extremely obscure, there's almost nothing online about this game and its characters. So, write-up time!

Retica was born in the small village of Volos, located in The Stag nation in the world of Alea. He was raised by his mother alone. She was often tasked with defending her young son from the hatred of the village-folk, for Retica's appearance tagged him as something unholly. His silver hair, as well as the birthmark on his throat told the story of his tainted origin; his looks make plain that he is cursed, tainted, born of the unholy union between a Majin and a human. A child born of a Majin and a human in called a Heretic, and in Alea they are rumored to bring about death, destruction, and even the end of the world. Church law dictates that Heretics should be killed on sight.

However, Retica's mother managed to keep him safe until he was 14. At this point, his father returned and slaughtered his mother. It is alluded to in game that Retica's father (Doom Shade) was killed for him crimes, and that it was his reborn version that returned to attack his mother. Either way, Doom Shade killed Retica's mother and left. Retica swore to avenge his mother, and followed Doom Shade into a demon realm of Besek.

Retica also resolved to find The Eternal Poison, a treasure said to be located in Besek. According to his religion (about which very little is said) the Eternal Poison is said to grant great power to whoever finds it. Retica wanted to use this power to avenge his mother and kill his father.

Once inside, Retica ran across a witch and her Majin companion. Thage knew instantly what Retica was, and cursed him with The Oath of Obedience. This basically turned Retica into her slave, binding him with white magical chains. She decided to bring him along with her, believing his cursed blood may help her locate the Eternal Poison, which she was trying to locate for her own reasons. Retica had no choice but to follow, though he saw the usefulness in staying with them; he couldn't get through Besek alone, and he wanted to get to the Eternal Poison, anyway. He resolves that he won't feel bad betraying them.

However, Retica is pretty terrible at concealing his motives. Soon enough Thage and Raki seem to know what he's up to, though neither of them seem to mind. Thage treats Retica as a precious possession, protecting him from those who would harm him because of his mixed blood. Because of this, Retica starts growing very attached to Thage, and he begins to want to stay with her in order to protect her from her Majin companion, who he believes will do her harm.

Now, depending on the path the player takes, the next part of the game can go one of two ways. If you choose the Light Path through Besek, Retica discovers the deity that his religion worships is nothing but a Majin, which pretty much blows his mind and makes him incredibly upset. Taking the Dark Path, Retica and gang run across Doom Shade. However, he doesn't remember Retica at all, and the poor kid doesn't get any of the answers he was looking for. They kill him, and he's left feeling empty.

I'd be picking Retica up right after the defeat of Luxaphel, the Majin his religion worships as an angel.

Personality:

Probably the most important thing to know about Retica is that despite whatever else he may be, he is a good person. Though he has an attitude, and though he admits to being driven by selfish ideals, Retica is the kind of person that wants to help and protect people. If he sees someone in need, he helps without even thinking about it. This is pretty impressive, considering strangers tend to treat Retica bad due to his mixed heritage. Still, he's willing to risk that, and give help where he can. He feels concern for others very easily, including both strangers and allies.

Retica is really a simple kind of kid; he had trouble understanding the abstract. If people aren't straight forward with him, he gets confused very easily, and he can almost come off as a little stupid. However, the reality is quite contrary; Retica is pretty insightful for someone his age. However, he's not very good at concealing his motives or lying. He tends to blurt out what he's really thinking without meaning to.

He's also not very fond of needless extravagance. He prefers simple, practical things. For instance, he doesn't see the appeal of the lavishness the aristocracy of his time is accustomed to; he would rather learn how to wield his bow than primp and waltz. Retica does respect the social order though, and will comfortably practice his manners in the presence of aristocracy. He isn't especially polite, but he knows his "pleases and thank yous"; he'll often criticize the manners of others, even though his own are not especially polished.

In fact, Retica has quite the attitude. If he feels like he's being talked down to or disrespected, he's no problem dishing what he's served. His temper can range from what you'd expect of a 14 year old kid to broiling blood lust, thanks to his mixed blood. Being half Majin has different effects on him, which I will discuss in detail in the appropriate section.

So not only does Retica have an attitude, he's also very stubborn. Once he's set on something, he'll see it through to the end no matter the risk. His bravery crosses the line into recklessness. He's also very closed off about his own emotions; he doesn't like to talk about or even acknowledge his own suffering, and it takes a lot to get him to open up. Lastly, Retica is endlessly curious. He loves learning new things, and he's literally always asking questions, making inferences, and trying to figure things out.

Abilities & physical limitations:

In game, you can choose to have Retica train as a Dark One or a Serene One, which changes the abilities he knows. I play him as a Dark One, so I'll list the abilities that that class entails below. I'll also mention that none of his skill are limitless-- he can only cast a set number of times before he needs to rest.

Cura + Cura 2: Retica's healing skills. He can heal a single person at a time, or up to five people at once. His healing isn't exceptionally powerful, but it's enough to be useful in battle. He cannot wake someone from unconsciousness, but he can heal wounds/restore health.

Restorio: Retica has the power to heal physical status problems; translated in terms of that outside of an RPG, he can heal broken bones, close bleeding wounds, and cure disease. He cannot fix mental problems, like confusion, brain washing, or anything else that gets into your brain and fucks with your head.

Panic: Retica has the power to inflict fear by magical means; not a spell I would use on other characters without permission, of course. Could probably also be used to make enemies flee. He can only cast this on one enemy at a time.

Malus 1, 2, 3 + Dark Attack: Retica has the power to manipulate darkness (at various power levels) in order to attack his enemies. The attack sends bolts of darkness at one enemy at a time, and range from low to medium-strong strength. He's no mage, but his magical abilities are nothing to scoff at, either. He can also add the darkness element to his basic attack; this essentially means shooting arrows imbued with the power of darkness.

Archery + Rapid Fire: Retica is a skilled archer, able to use both long and short bows. His special skill is called Rapid Fire, which is pretty much what it sounds like; he fires a slew of arrows consecutively with impressive speed and precision.

Summon Majin: Retica has the ability to summon Majin that are as strong as, or weaker than himself. This means he isn't strong enough to summon boss Majin, but he can summon some pretty powerful underlings. What's more impressive is that summoning Majin usually takes the power of a Librum, but Retica doesn't need one. He can summon Majin through his own power alone. This ability is blocked in game!

Heretic; a creature born of the unholy union between human and Majin: As I briefly mentioned above, Retica is a halfbreed. His mixed blood is called a curse by almost everyone around him, and it is believed that heretics like him will only bring sin and destruction. Some even believe heretics will bring the end of the world. Because of this, Retica is often treated like a pariah, and is even hunted by those of the dominant faith. Majin and human alike both believe that heretics should be killed on sight.

His appearance makes his origins pretty plain, unfortunately for Retica. Heretics are born with silver hair, as well as a birthmark on their throat. Majin blood is bright fuchsia and acidic, so Retica's blood is a color between fuchsia and red, and it is also acidic. His blood can drive him into fits of bloodlust, madness, and even illusions of grandeur.

And if that wasn't enough of a pain in the ass, his blood will eventually kill him. Heretics are tainted, and this taint makes itself plain in Retica by manifesting as a sickness. Besides occasionally driving him insane, his blood causes him extreme pain, and makes it difficult to breath. Eventually, it will mutate his body into that of a Majin, and then burn out of him and cause death. So poor Retica can be pretty sickly at times, even if he does his damnedest to ignore it and pretend everything is fine.

Title: Squire of Ruin
In-game abilities: A big part of Retica's character is his cursed blood, so I was thinking his ability (should he reach god-tier) should involve inflicting that curse onto others. This could have a variety off effects, depending on what other plays may desire/agree on. It could cause sickness, difficulty breathing, hemorrhaging, blood color change, and even mutation and madness.

Planet: Land of Darkness and Chains. This planet is trapped in perpetual night, the sky dark and starless. The terrain is a mix of hard black slate and grassy dirt; twisted black trees that look more like knarled antlers are peppered sparsely across the landscape. Huge glowing white chains are draped from the sky, swaying gently though there is no wind. The sounds of clinking metal is constant.

The consorts are Koona, cute helpful little bear-Majin that speak backwards and add "anook anook" to everything they say. They build tiny villages under the glow of the massive chains.

The denzin is The Doom Witch; she wears a tattered reaper's cloak and had huge twisted antlers. She wields a huge red scythe and works her magic with a Librum and a massive cauldron. she summons rivers of acidic fuchsia liquid split the slate, singing the river beds. These rivers taint the ground and the air, slowly mutating the koona into monstrous vicious versions of their former selves. These twisted koona are savage, killing everything in sight until they eventually mutate too far, and die. Occasionally, you can stumble across one of their mutated corpses.

RP Sample:

Though it was somewhat familiar, Retica hated the sound of Koona screaming. He hated Majin by obligation, but the little bears had never given him a single reason to extend his ire. In fact, they were the only race that was kind to him by default. Besides, he couldn't help but feel sorry for them; when the Majin had no humans to eat, they'd turn instantly on their furry little kin.

But there were no wild Majin here, though the creatures he found harassing the poor little Koona were just as terrifying. They looked like they might have been Koona at one time, but they were huge and monstrous, their mouthes bursting with jagged fangs and thier breath of blood and rot. The archer had come running when he heard the shrieks, and arrived in time to see one of the mutant monstrosities devouring one of a trio of quivering Koona triplets.

A crest of dark lightning sailed on the point of his arrow as it sliced through the air; it hit its mark when it cut into the flesh of the mutant Koona's eye. The creature released a ghastly howl, flailing in pain.

"Go!" Retica called to the remaining two Koona, whom were quivering at the monster's feet. "Get out of here, quick!" But suddenly the mutant didn't look so intent on the little bears; it turned it's attention to Retica and released a terrifying roar. The archer's eyes widened as the fear flashed brightly across his face. He quashed in down, and drew another arrow, the tip crackling with sharp bolts of purple darkness.

He'd the sinking feeling he couldn't defeat this creature alone.

[The feed clicks on to a super imposed red eye. It’s narrowed in obvious and burning frustration, and there’s a quiet muttering o growls and curses in the backdrop. Finally, Retica holds the pokegear back, and the screen shows a more comprehensive look at the teen]

Someone better start giving me some answers, damn it! Is this some kind of trick? Where the hell am I? And what is that music?!

[He looks around, scowling at his surroundings like they personally offended him]

Besek’s never looked like this, not even the first stratum. I don’t care how I got here—I need to get back. I—I was so close. I know I was. I had to be. We were almost—

Nevermind. I’m getting out of here, even if no one else can help me.

Character
Name: Retica

Timeline:
Canon Resource Links: Here we would have the links to wikis and other information sites. If none of those seem to provide enough information, feel free to add more about the character here. However, please do not use this section as a full history section unless your canon is ridiculously obscure. General rule of thumb: if there are a good amount of descriptive resources, please just link them and use this section to add in what may have been left out, as opposed to writing an entire history section.

Personality: Give us at minimum 2-3 full paragraphs of how you understand your character's personality. Talk about basic characteristics, any major developments over the course of their canon, their motives, their social behavior, and anything else you can think of that shows off your knowledge of this character.
Strengths/Weaknesses: Try to cover the good points of what they can do, their life skills (not necessarily powers, but things they're just good at). Go into their biggest fears and what they just can’t do.

Pokémon Information
Affiliation: What career path will your character be taking? Breeder, Trainer? Or maybe even down the dark path of becoming a member of Team Rocket? Note: All Rocket members start as grunts. (For right now, only those three positions are available, whether your character chooses to follow their assigned path or not.)
Starter: What starter pokémon do you want your character to have? Please use the list linked above to choose from. As the game progresses, the other generation pokémon may be allowed, but as of now they are not. Alternatively, if you would like a starter Eevee, please explain your reasoning here. The same applies if you would like a Pikachu (Ash Ketchum Syndrome), though we'll be more strict with Eevee due to its popularity. You do not need to explain your reasoning for pokémon other than Eevee or Pikachu.
Password: This is where you'll put the passwords from the Rules and the F.A.Q. There are two words, to assure you've read both.

Samples
First Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. Eight sentences is the minimum. This is a PokéConnect post--one that will be on the character's journal, broadcast to the network. Although it is short, it needs to show how your character would communicate with others, as well as be descriptive enough to express the character's voice without sounding too generic.

Third Person Sample: The sample must take place in Route_29's setting. The minimum is 300 words. Please note that what we are looking for is an inner working into the character’s thoughts and actions, and how the character responds to the setting, not something that could be taken as an excerpt fanfic. You may use other characters to bounce your characters actions off of, but everything should still be mostly from their point of view.
